Art History’s Funniest Moments

This section takes inspiration from Monty Python and cracked.com.  In other words, this blog will look at history from a dark and absurdly humorous perspective.

Here, we celebrate the more humorous aspects of art and the artists who executed them.  Well, they were funny in my opinion.

By the way, some links are very NSFW because some jokes verge on the visually crude.

William Hogarth makes a person look like a dirty old man. Of course, he did a lot of funny prints.

Marcel Duchamp draws a mustache on the Mona Lisa.

The Satire of Womanhouse.

Jenny Holzer’s One Liners.

The Jean Tinguely’s Phallus Sculpture.  Also known as La Vittoria.

Jeff Koon’s Complete Works.

Check out my archive of arty mirth and hopefully it will give you as much of a chuckle as it did me.
