Morton Feldman’s Patterns in a Chromatic Field Part One

Continuing with the theme of textiles, according to All Music, Feldman used “Asian carpets” as the basis for this Avant Garde opus.  Rather broad subject, if you ask me.

So far, I am liking this better than Crippled Symmetry.  The energy and variety of tones keep me interested in what will happen next.  The cello playing reminds me of Yo Yo Ma’s style of playing.  In fact, the cello performance seems to feel both harsh and soft at the same time.  A piano plays along with the cello.  I do love the stomping quality that the piano creates as the performer plays it.

Well, more like bangs it.
