Today was the first time in Turkey for all three of us and the first time in Asia for Fiona. Yes, Izmir, Turkey is actually in Asia. Turkey is split across two continents, with only about 3% of it actually being in Europe and the rest in Asia covering a huge land mass bordered with Iran and Iraq, with Syria. We really did feel the difference as we entered Izmir for our first experience of an Islamic country on our travels.
